In the FIDE World Cup, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa came in second place. Magnus Carlsen ultimately succeeded in winning the FIDE World Cup for the first time in his career after three days and four stressful chess matches in two formats. However, not until the 18-year-old kid had carried him through the tie-breaker, Carlsen had to face Praggnanandhaa in the championship game. After the second game of the tiebreaker, Carlsen’s victory was officially declared.

After a 1-1 draw in regulation, Bharat defeated Kuwait 5-4 on penalties to win the match and the SAFF Championship for the Blue Tigers. Hajiah’s penalty attempt was stopped by Bharat goaltender Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to seal the victory as tension and excitement increased across the arena.
