Chiranjeevi Seven Names: Eternal Wisdom in Each Form

Chiranjeevi : Chiranjeevi means “immortal beings” in Hinduism. According to legend, they will survive until the current Kali Yuga ends, having been granted the ability to stay on Earth for the sake of dharma preservation and human advancement. Each of these seven Chiranjeevi’s titles and tales carries timeless wisdom.

The Stories of the Seven Chiranjeevi.

  1. The Ashwatthama

Because of his transgressions in the Mahabharata, Ashwatthama, the son of Guru Dronacharya, was cursed by Lord Krishna to endure pain and wounds until the end of time. His longevity serves as a warning about the negative effects of pride and rage.

  1. The Mahabali

Lord Vamana, a Vishnu incarnation, banished the benevolent demon king Bali to the netherworld (Patala). However, he was given immortality because of his devotion and righteousness. Kerala celebrates his narrative during Onam.

  1. The Vyasa

The sage who wrote the Mahabharata and assembled the Vedas, Maharshi Ved Vyasa, was endowed with immortality so that he may impart knowledge and wisdom to humanity throughout the ages.

  1. The Hanuman

Hanuman, a powerful follower of Lord Rama, is always devoted to promoting the name of Rama and assisting followers in need. He is the most revered of the Chiranjeevis because of his bravery, strength, and dedication.

  1. The Vibhishana

Vibhishana, Ravana’s brother, stood with Lord Rama and put dharma above family. Rama anointed Ravana the monarch of Lanka after his fall and gave him immortality so he might lead people in righteousness.

  1. The Kripacharya

Because of his balanced disposition and commitment to dharma, Kripacharya, the Mahabharata’s teacher and warrior, was granted immortality. It is stated that he will keep instructing the next generation.

  1. The Parashurama

Parashurama, the warrior-sage who vanquished corrupt Kshatriyas and brought harmony back, is Vishnu’s sixth avatar. According to legend, he waits for Lord Kalki, Vishnu’s future avatar, till the end of the Kali Yuga.
