The Celebration of Divine Victory
Navratri is one of the most sacred Hindu festivals, dedicated to worshipping Goddess Durga and her nine divine manifestations (Nava Durga). Spanning nine holy nights and ending on the tenth day—Vijayadashami (Dussehra)—this festival celebrates the victory of righteousness over evil, truth over falsehood, and light over darkness.
In 2026, the divine festival of Sharad Navratri and Mysuru Dasara takes place from October 11th to October 21st, 2026.
The All 9 Days of Navratri Celebration
Day 1: Goddess Shailaputri 11 Oct 2026
Significance: The Daughter of the Mountains. She represents strength, nature, and pure devotion. Goddess Shailaputri is depicted riding a bull, holding a Trident and a Lotus Flower.
Day 2: Goddess Brahmacharini 12 Oct 2026
Significance: The Goddess of Penance and Wisdom. She embodies devotion, asceticism, and spiritual knowledge, walking barefoot carrying a Rosary (Japamala) and a Water Pot (Kamandalu).
Day 3: Goddess Chandraghanta 13 Oct 2026
Significance: The symbol of Bravery and Grace. Adorned with a half-moon shaped like a bell on her forehead, she dispels fear and protects her devotees from evil spirits.
Day 4: Goddess Kushmanda 14 Oct 2026
Significance: The Creator of the Universe. It is believed that her warm smile created the entire cosmos. She radiates cosmic energy, light, and warmth.
Day 5: Goddess Skandamata 15 Oct 2026
Significance: The Loving Mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya). She grants ultimate motherly protection, unconditional love, peace, and prosperity to her devotees.
Day 6: Goddess Katyayani 16 Oct 2026
Significance: The Warrior Goddess. Born to destroy demonic forces, she grants courage and fearlessness to those who worship her with a sincere heart.
Day 7: Goddess Kalaratri 17 Oct 2026
Significance: The Destroyer of Darkness and Ignorance. Despite her fierce form, she is known as Shubhankari (the bringer of auspiciousness) because she protects devotees from all evils and fears.
Day 8: Goddess Mahagauri (Maha Ashtami) 18 Oct 2026
Significance: The symbol of Purity, Peace, and Grace. Devotees worship her for inner peace, purification of sins, and fulfillment of deep spiritual desires.
Day 9: Goddess Siddhidatri (Maha Navami) 19 Oct 2026
Significance: The Giver of Siddhis (Supernatural powers and perfection). She bestows wisdom, spiritual fulfillment, and success upon all seekers.
Ayudha Puja 20 Oct 2026
Significance: A revered day dedicated to worshipping tools, vehicles, instruments, and weapons, honoring the spirit of work and divine protection in daily life.
✨ Vijayadashami 2026 (21st October) ✨
The grand 10th day marks Vijayadashami. On this holy day, Goddess Chamundeshwari vanquished the demon Mahishasura after a long battle. It also marks Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.
In Mysuru, the celebration is legendary. A decorated royal elephant carries the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari on a golden howdah (slotted throne) through the decorated city, accompanied by traditional dancers, royal guards, and music. The night concludes with the spectacular Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap.
