India’s third moon mission, Chandrayaan-3, is prepared to launch, making history.

The low budget of India’s space agency has been the topic of much discussion on social media as ISRO launches Chandrayaan-3. Compared to the USA or Russia, ISRO is renowned for its affordable space missions. However, some on social media also compared the price of Chandrayaan’s missions with high-end films.

The estimated cost of Chandrayaan-3 is 615 crore. According to sources, “Adipurush” and “Brahmastra” both cost 500 crore and 450 crore respectively.

Approximately 370 crores of the total cost of Chandrayaan-2 was spent on the film’s launch. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on the other hand, had a production budget of over 2,000 crore.

While the production of the Hollywood film “Avatar” cost over $1 billion, the first Moon trip only cost about 385 crores.

Gravity is a 2013 movie directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The movie was created with a budget of 100 million US dollars!

 The Hollywood ‘Interstellar’, just like the agency’s Mars mission. While the Chandrayaan-2 mission’s cost was only Rs 800 crore, the movie Interstellar had cost Rs 1,062 crore. The Mars mission, which was launched in 2013, had cost ISRO Rs 470 crore

SpaceX boss Elon Musk has applauded India’s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission budget of $75 million, comparing favorably to the Hollywood SciFi movie Interstellar’s $165 million production cost, in response to a tweet. Musk’s supportive message triggers diverse reactions among netizens.

Elon Musk responded by writing, “Good for India!” and including an emoji of the Country’s flag.
