The story starts with King Vichitravirya, who was the king of Hastinapur. He died young and didn’t have any kids. This was a big problem for the Kuru dynasty. Bhishma asked Sage Vyasa, Satyavati’s son, to assist keep the royal bloodline going through the old rite of niyoga. Vyasa consented, but Ambika and Ambalika, the queens of Vichitravirya, had to meet him first.

Ambika was scared and apprehensive when she was told to see Sage Vyasa since he looked so scary. She was so scared that she closed her eyes tightly during their meeting. Vyasa said that her son would be born blind because of this reaction.
This youngster grew up to be Dhritarashtra, the father of the 100 Kauravas.
Dhritarashtra was blind, but he was strong, powerful, and full of potential. But his blindness was a big reason why he couldn’t become king, according to the norms of the realm. This denial later had an effect on many choices that led to the Kurukshetra War.

Ambalika was asked to see Vyasa after Ambika’s reaction. But she was also scared and turned pale. The sage said that her child would be feeble and pale when he or she was born. This child was Pandu, who eventually had five sons, the Pandavas.
Pandu wasn’t fit to be a normal king because he was sick, but Dhritarashtra made him the king because he couldn’t see. Pandu was bold and good at what he did, but fate had other plans for him. He had to leave the kingdom and dwell in the woods because of a curse. There, supernatural blessings gave birth to his children, the Pandavas.
The Future of Hastinapur After Birth
The future of the Kuru dynasty was influenced by Dhritarashtra’s blindness and Pandu’s feeble, pallid state. One became the Kauravas’ sympathetic and protective father, while the other became the Pandavas’ father who had to do his duty. Their unusual births eventually led to competition, unfairness, and the epic Mahabharata War.
