New Update : 5 Most Expensive Players In IPL Auction

Introduction

Expensive Players

The Indian Premier League’s sixteenth season, which will begin on March 31st, features teams with formidable rosters full of game-winning players and a well-rounded roster. In the T20 format, all-rounders are highly sought after since they offer versatility in both bowling and batting. During the IPL 2023 auction, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Sam Curran were the most expensive players. Let’s examine the top 5 most costly players in the 2023 Indian Premier League auction.

Expensive Players List

1. Mitchell Starc

At the IPL 2024 auction, Australian skipper Pat Cummins and fellow bowler Mitchell Starc cracked the barrier, one month after they captured the ODI World Cup trophy in India.

Although Cummins was paid Rs 20.5 crore by the Sunrisers Hyderabad to get him, Mitchell Starc surpassed him later in the day to become the most expensive IPL player ever when he was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore.

2. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, had a wild day at the IPL auction on Tuesday. His price skyrocketed above Rs 20 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired Cummins for Rs 20.5 crore. The Punjab Kings paid Rs 18.5 crore for the English all-rounder last year, making Cummins the most expensive IPL purchase ever, surpassing even Sam Curran.

But soon after, KKR acquired Mitchell Starc, a teammate of Cummins, for an incredible Rs 24.75 crore!

3. Sam Curran

Ness Wadia, team director for the Punjab Kings, described him as a “world-class player.” He is so good that he could play for any elite team or in any World XI. He is one of the world’s top all-around players, if not the greatest.

The middle-order batsman who was attacking and left-arm quick for the Chennai Super Kings had a great time there, but he left due to a back ailment and could not play in the 2022 tournament.

The amount paid for Curran exceeded the previous record highest bid, 162.5 million rupees ($1.96 million) made for South African all-rounder Chris Morris by the Rajasthan Royals the previous year.

4. Cameron Green

As the second most expensive player in the league, Green was acquired by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.5 crore during the IPL 2023 auction. He is an Australian all-rounder. When Australia was 139 for 4 in the 23rd over, Ravindra Jadeja struck with a beauty to remove Marnus Labuschagne, forcing Green to come out to bat at No. 6. Throughout his 19-ball stint at the crease, the youthful all-rounder did not appear to be at ease until Mohammed Shami delivered a spectacular delivery that trapped his stumps. Green was ejected for 12, and all he could do was stand there in shock.

The IPL auction for the 2024 edition is scheduled for December 19 in Dubai. Of the 333 players who will be cut down to size, 214 are Indian. Some well-known players have been let go, but the key players have been kept by their respective teams.

The IPL will hold its 17th edition in 2024, having begun in 2008. The Chennai Super Kings are the reigning champions, and the first winners were the Rajasthan Royals. With five titles, they are in the lead together with the Mumbai Indians.
