NOTTINGHAM, England, May 11 (Reuters) – Late goals from Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson led Chelsea to a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, who came close to ensuring Premier League safety on Saturday but were unable to pop the Champagne corks.
Mykhailo Mudryk also scored for Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea, who are seventh in the table with two games remaining, adding to their prospects of qualifying for Europe next season.
With one game remaining at already relegated Burnley, Forest sit 17th and three points ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town, but their much superior goal difference should ensure their top-flight stay.
Chelsea, who have won their past three Premier League games following an uneven season, travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday before hosting Bournemouth to finish the season on May 19.
