The Legend of Lord Ayyappa Sabarimala
It is said that Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are the parents of Lord Ayyappa, also called Hariharaputra. He represents the victory of Dharma over Adharma and the unification of divine powers. According to legend, his heavenly mission to defeat the monster Mahishi symbolizes the never-ending struggle for morality. - Celibacy: During the Vratham, devotees are required to maintain celibacy.
