Making it and the story
- Kantara: Chapter 1 takes place during the Kadamba dynasty, which was around 300 CE, and looks at the mythological and ritual roots of the Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva. These are the divine defenders of land and nature from the original movie.
- The main filming started in November 2023, and the first teaser came out soon after, on November 27, 2023.The movie was shot up until early July 2025.
- The enormous 25-acre Karnataka mountain conflict sequence, with over 500 trained combatants and approximately 3,000 actors, is a highlight of the production.
Music
The film’s evocative soundtrack and background score are by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, who scored Kantara. The July 2025 soundtrack is rooted in folk traditions but reinforced with powerful percussion, traditional chants, and classical melodies to complement this chapter’s mythological tone.

Mark your calendars: Kantara: Chapter 1 will open in theaters on October 2, 2025, during Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami. Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English will be used to present the old narrative to a pan-Indian audience.
