Mysore Dasara (Nada Habba) is Karnataka’s flagship grand festival, celebrating the victory of truth over evil. Spanning 10 grand days, the festival honors Goddess Chamundeshwari, who vanquished the demon Mahishasura.

In 2026, the festivities commence on Sunday, October 11th, 2026, and culminate on the grand final day of Vijayadashami, Wednesday, October 21st, 2026. From imperial palace illuminations and cultural exhibitions to royal rituals led by the Wadiyar dynasty, Mysore transforms into a golden spectacle.

Day 1: Goddess Shailaputri 11 Oct 2026

✨ Vijayadashami Highlights: October 21st, 2026 ✨

The climax of Mysore Dasara takes place on Vijayadashami. The entire city gathers to witness the legendary procession and grand traditions:

  • Jamboo Savari: A decorated royal elephant carries the golden idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari in a 750-kg Golden Howdah (slotted throne) through the city streets.
  • Torchlight Parade (Panjina Kavayatthu): Held in the evening at the Bannimantap Parade Grounds, featuring equestrian stunts, laser displays, and military drill performances.
  • Palace Illumination: Over 100,000 bulbs light up the magnificent Mysore Palace every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM during the festival.
