India Takes Over as Host for Commonwealth Games 2030

A big sports moment as India prepares to welcome athletes from around the world to Ahmedabad.

A Proud Moment for Indian Sports

India has officially taken over as the next host country for the Commonwealth Games 2030. The handover ceremony took place in Glasgow during the closing event, where the official Commonwealth flag was passed on to Indian representatives, including sports stars Neeraj Chopra and PT Usha.

Where Will the Games Take Place?

The 2030 Games will be held in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This is a very special event because 2030 marks 100 years since the Commonwealth Games first started in 1930. India previously hosted the Games in Delhi in 2010, making this the second time the country will host this mega sporting event.

Grand Cultural Celebration

To mark the beginning of India’s journey toward 2030, a colorful cultural program was presented. Famous music composer Shankar Mahadevan and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar helped showcase India’s rich culture and talent under the inspiring message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The world is one family).

What Makes This Special?

  • Centenary Edition: Celebrating 100 years of the Commonwealth Games history.
  • Top Venues: Events will feature world-class facilities like the Narendra Modi Stadium.
  • Big Boost for Athletes: Indian sports stars will get to perform in front of their home crowd.
