Behind Story Of Parshuram Kund

  • Lord Parshuram, an avatar of Vishnu, he had to slay his mother Renuka at his father’s behest, Rishi Jamadagni.
  • Mother Renuka was sent to collect water, but for unknown reasons, she got late.
  • Parshuram was asked by Rishi Jamadagni to slay his mother since she was late in returning with the water.
  • Parshuram went ahead and killed his mother as per his father’s instruction.
  • In order to achieve freedom from his sins, Parshuram bathed in the Lohit River’s waters, which were subsequently named Parshuram Kund.
  • The axe used to slay his mother had stuck to his hand.
  • As soon as he immersed his hand in the Lohit River, the axe fell off from his hand, indicating his redemption.
  • After that, this location has been referred to as Parshuram Kund and has become a significant pilgrimage destination.
