Russia and India's Agreement
- To strengthen tourism relations as well as economic and cultural interactions, Russia and India are in the midst of negotiations to create a bilateral agreement for visa-free group travel exchanges.
- India is prepared for the agreement, according to Director Nikita Kondratyev of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Russian Economic Development Ministry. Talks are expected to start in June, and the agreement is probably going to be inked by year’s end.
- The goal of the project is to replicate the accomplishments of comparable visa-free travel agreements that were made with China and Iran the year before.
- Business travel to Moscow has increased significantly in recent years, and Indian tourists have been a major part of this growth. The number of Russian visitors visiting India has also significantly increased, indicating the reciprocal nature of travel between the two countries.
