Lord Shiva's Trishula

The Divine Secrets of Lord Shiva’s Trishula

Exploring the Origin, Name, and Vedic Significance

The Trishula (Trident) is the most iconic symbol of Lord Shiva, representing the three fundamental pillars of the universe. It is not merely a weapon of destruction, but a tool for the restoration of Dharma and the liberation of the soul.

The Sacred Name of the Trishula is VIJAYA.

Who Gave the Trishula to Lord Shiva?

According to the Vishnu Purana, the creator of the Trishula is the celestial architect, VISHWAKARMA.

The legend states that Vishwakarma used the dazzling brilliance of Surya Dev (The Sun God) to forge this weapon. To reduce the unbearable heat of the Sun, Vishwakarma ground down 1/8th of the Sun’s solar matter. From this celestial “stardust,” he crafted several supreme weapons:

  • The Trishula for Mahadev.
  • The Sudarshana Chakra for Lord Vishnu.
  • The Pushpaka Vimana for Kubera.
