After earning a degree in architecture from Cornell University, he enrolled at Harvard Business School to study management. Still, the trip that had the biggest impact on him started in 1962 when he joined the Tata Group.

Tata became Chairman of Tata Sons, the Tata Group’s parent business, in 1991. The conglomerate saw a global revolution under his direction.
