Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple : The Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple, a revered shrine devoted to Vishnu and rich in myth, history, and architectural magnificence, is tucked away in the Tamil Nadu town of Thiruppullani. Situated approximately 64 kilometers from Rameshwaram and 10 kilometers from Ramanathapuram, it attracts devotees as one of the 108 Divya Desams, which are the sacred dwellings of Vishnu.

Before traveling to Lanka, Lord Rama from the epic Ramayana is said to have done a penance here. The village was named Dharbasayanam after he is reported to have prayed to the sea deity while lying down on Dharba (kusha) grass. Over time, the village changed its name to Thiruppullani, which means “pullani,” which means grass pillow.
According to a different tradition, King Dasharatha made offerings here in order to have children. Devotees who are childless still come to perform special ceremonies here because they think the Lord blesses offspring.
The temple is regarded as a saranagathi-kshetram (place of surrender) where devotees come with strong faith because of these tales.
