Maulana Azad, also known as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, was a well-known Indian academic, political figurehead, and freedom fighter who was instrumental in the country’s independence campaign. Maulana Azad, a renowned Islamic scholar and ardent supporter of Hindu-Muslim unification, was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on November 11, 1888.

In 1923, he was elected as the Indian National Congress’s youngest president. An outspoken advocate of Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent tenets, Azad took an active part in the Non-Cooperation Movement against British domination.
