With Dhoni’s resignation as captain, an era coming to an end will see no more Indian superstars head IPL teams in the 17th season of the lucrative tournament, which gets underway this Friday with a match between CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Before the season, the Mumbai Indians also faced a leadership transition when Hardik Pandya took over from Rohit Sharma. This led to apprehension among supporters and rumors of possible discord within the team’s camp.
