The Significance of Yamunotri Temple

One of the most sacred rivers in Hinduism, the Yamuna, has its source at Yamunotri. According to popular belief, the river is a goddess and the sister of Yama, the Death God. It is believed that bathing in its waters will atone for misdeeds and guarantee a tranquil afterlife.

Constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal, the temple is a symbol of faith amidst stunning snow-capped peaks and verdant surroundings. In order to get spiritual serenity and divine favors, pilgrims go on a strenuous journey to the temple.
