On the eve of Diwali, on Saturday, over 22 lakh diyas were lighted on the banks of the Saryu river in Ayodhya during the seventh Deepotsav, creating a new Guinness World record for the most lamps burned concurrently in one location. On Ram ki Paidi, Ayodhya Deepotsav made history once more by setting a new Guinness World Record with over 22.23 lakh diyas lit up.

Ayodhya Deepotsav: On Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh government held Ayodhya’s seventh “Deepotsav,” or Diwali festival.
According to PTI, the festivities started with a magnificent Deepotsav parade that had eighteen regal and celestial tableaux that portrayed the persona of Lord Ram.
This magnificent procession served as a forum for religious expression for artists from throughout the nation.

On this occasion, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which is still under construction, has also been decked. Additionally, devotees prayed to Lord Ram in Ayodhya’s Ram Janamabhoomi.

Guinness World Record is set by Ayodhya Deepotsav with around 22 lakh "diyas."

Ayodhya Deepotsav created history yet again as set a new Guinness World Record with over 22.23 lakh diyas lit up on Ram ki Paidi.

 The city broke its own Guinness World Record of lighting 15.76 lakh last year.22,23 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) were lit by 25,000 volunteers at 51 ghats of Ram Ki Paidi along the river; this is 6.47 lakh more than the previous year.

‘Jai Shri Ram’ chanting erupted around Ayodhya upon the announcement of the world record by representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records, who had counted the lamps using drones. Ever since the city received the award yesterday, postings praising the Ayodhya visual extravaganza have taken over social media. The big ceremony in Ayodhya was also attended by diplomats from fifty-four nations.

The aarti was attended by UP Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, State Ministers Jaiveer Singh and Rakesh Sachan, and UP Governor Anandiben Patel, among others.
